The students of St. Francis College Otukpo were pleasantly surprised by the sight that greeted them in the dining hall on Sunday 3rd December 2023 as they turned up for lunch; party style jollof rice with fried fresh fish and a bottle of soft drink.
The meal was sponsored by three (3) members of the class of 1987, Barrister Patrick Ameh, Philip Agbese Jnr and Ijachi Odeh, to mark the start of the college’s first term examination. In a message to the principal, Fr. Augustine Ochai, these old boys said they remembered their college days back in the 1980s and how they wished they were treated to a different meal once in a while, and they hope this will boost the students’ morale, as well as encourage and inspire them to focus on their studies and give their best in the examinations.
Speaking after the meal, the Senior Prefect of the college, Master Israel Bernard, commended the old boys who sponsored the meal for their thoughtful gesture, and the Assistant Senior Prefect, Master Princewill Ejembi (who is one half of the duo that recently won the INEF quiz competition) also thanked the sponsors for the sumptuous meal which he said will be remembered by the students for a long time.
